Everett Powell, Managing Attorney
Everett Powell, the firm's managing attorney, has traveled from humbled beginnings to live his childhood dream without compromising his personal character and moral beliefs. Mr. Powell graduated from Morton Memorial High School in Knightstown, Indiana, where he was valedictorian of his class and recognized as a Hoosier Scholar by then-Governor Evan Bayh. Attorney Powell later joined the United States Army JAG Corp where he provided legal services to military personnel. His military experience allowed him to travel overseas and interact with myriad cultures and diverse people.
Attorney Powell received his Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice at Indiana University Purdue University- Indianapolis and his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law- Indianapolis. While in college, Mr. Powell co-founded the Alpha and Omega Christian Fellowship Ministries with his sister, Evett. Mr. Powell led Alpha and Omega's campus-wide prayer in 2002 in memory of the victims and families of the 9-11 tragedies and this campus-wide prayer has become an annual event. Mr. Powell also re-instituted and directed a drill team, the Christian Steppers, at the Indiana Boys School. Mr. Powell is an honored recipient of the ICLEO Fellowship. While in law school, he also held the position of Treasurer of the Student Bar Association.
Currently, Mr. Powell is a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association, Marion County Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Even with the rigors of being an attorney and leading the campus ministry, Attorney Powell still finds time to direct a mentoring program (TITUS) for adolescent males. Attorney Powell is a minister and member of Turning Point Family Worship Center.
With his expansive background, Mr. Powell brings to the firm an understanding of people and the law which governs them. He has an understanding of what the law states in black and white and can appreciates how the law is lived out day to day. His strong devotion to his faith adds the compassion that an attorney should possess.
